Oil, the way your grandmother knew it.

Knutz began with a simple frustration — the oils on supermarket shelves tasted of nothing. Clear, odourless, endless. Crushed at high heat and stripped with solvents until there was nothing left of the seed.

So we went back to the lakdi ghani — the slow wooden press our grandparents trusted. In Sanskrit, oil is called sneha, the very word Ayurveda uses for love and affection. The classical texts regard an oil as shuddh — pure — when the seed is pressed slowly in a wooden ghani, without heat or chemicals.

We keep to that discipline: single-origin seeds and sun-dried copra, a traditional wooden press, cold extraction, nothing added and nothing refined away. Every bottle is pressed in small batches, filtered gently, and sent to you whole — oil that tastes like the seed it came from.
